Attempts at Improvements

The winter in Cincinnati is over (I hope for good!) so we've been trying to turn things a little greener around here. Last year, we planted grass in the backyard, hoping that we would have a lush backyard by springtime, and unfortunately, the seeds didn't get enough water, and the backyard is just as brown as ever, with a bunch of fall leaves around to add a splash of color! :)
That's our backyard from 3 different angles. You can tell none of those angles have any grass. There's even some moss growing out there. Where did that come from? I'm thinking sod might be our best bet at this point, but I think I'm going to plant some grass one more time and see what happens. Especially with all the rain that comes in April. It's bound to at least come up a little. I have to finish raking first though...

Here's one of our attempts at landscaping in the front of the house. The snow and ice are gone and little green plants are sprouting out! We planted these last year and I don't really know what to expect when they get bigger. The brown plants are leftover from last year, so now you know what plants look like in Ohio after they have been frozen for 3 months. I need to go pluck those out of the otherwise promising landscaping. :)
Here is the side of our house, where we've planted some lillies and a little red tree. I hope thees turn out nice. We need some color around the house. I'll post some more pictures after they bloom. This picture is taken from the front right side of the house, looking towards the back yard.
And lastly, this is one of our little house plants. We've had them for about 3 months now, and so far, so good. There are 4 other house plants, but this one is doing the best by far. I put the 2 biggest ones outside today to get some rain b/c I don't think I can water them enough. I hope they like it outside.
I'm terrible at plants, but I do think they make the house a little happier. Yay for having living things in the house besides people. It's just like having a dog... ok, not really. I need a dog. But this will keep me occupied until I can get one. :)
