If you follow me on twitter/are my friend on facebook, you've seen my Cabo pictures, but for anyone still reading this very neglected blog who has not heard about my trip, here's the recap.

Since it was Brandon's birthday on October 5th and my birthday on October 9th, we decided we needed to do something big to celebrate. Last year we went to NYC for his brother's wedding, so we continued the tradition this year for a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

We were also celebrating our friend Jen's birthday (the 16th), and her friend Conrad's birthday (the 13th), so we had a lot of celebrating to do. Two more of Jen's friends came along for the celebration, Mike and Leslin, and that was our party of 6.
DAY 1: Brandon and I traveled on free airfare, since we are frequent fliers, but one drawback was that we had to spend the night in Atlanta Friday night, and in San Diego (if you can call that a drawback) on Wednesday night. So we arrived in Mexico at noon on Saturday. It was so pretty! Blue skies and oceans all around. Our hotel arranged transportation to pick us up from the airport, and it was like Vegas, where they dropped off people at their hotels. We were the 2nd group dropped off. Our resort was so pretty! It was all-inclusive called Riu Santa Fe.
We found our room and immediately went to the pool to meet Conrad and Jen. She told us which pool she'd be in, but it was still really hard to find her. I don't know how people manage to live without cell phones. I didn't want to have to pay international charges, so I just left my phone in airplane mode for the entire trip.

Anyway, it was mainly a pool day on Saturday. We were waiting for Mike and Leslin to get there, but they didn't show up until around dinner time, and then we ate at the Chinese restaurant at our resort. It wasn't the best in Mexico. Definitely the worst food night at the place.
After dinner, we went downtown to party like a local. We drink some tecate lights and danced a little. It was a fun night!
DAY 2: We spent more time in the pool on day 2. It started raining a little and we all went for a walk on the beach to a bar Jen heard was really fun called "The Office". About 10 miles later, we stopped at a bar called "Mango Deck" and watched the Dallas Cowboys game there while drinking dos equis. Jen participated in a chugging contest and lost and ended up getting a lap dance from someone else who lost. It was pretty funny. We had reservations that night at the Mexican food restaurant at our resort, which was really good. The 2nd best mexican food of the trip. After dinner, we watched the show that the resort puts on. It was kind of like dancing with the stars, but they were not stars. :)
DAY 3: I can't remember anything eventful happening on Monday. I know it was Mike and Leslin's last night, so we went to the Italian place for dinner. Other than that, I think it was another pool day, followed by a nap or 2.

DAY 4: Tropical Depression Patricia decided to hit the coast overnight on Monday, and Jen and Conrad were out in the storm, waiting on the street for wristbands to the free concert we went to for Sammy Haagar's birthday at Cabo Wabo (his bar in Cabo). They have pictures of the streets flooding, but Brandon and I slept right through it. When we woke up, everything was wet, but that's the only sign of it that I saw. Tuesday was the prettiest day in Cabo, since Saturday. The skies were blue and the sun was really bright. Jen and I layed out in the water on these sunbathing chairs, and I guess I fell asleep before I re-applied my sunscreen, b/c I got a pretty bad sunburn.
That night, we went to the best Mexican food restaurant in Cabo called Mi Casa.
Everything was delicious, and they had a man draw our charachiture, which is hilarious.
After dinner, we went to Cabo Wabo for Sammy's bday concert. It was a really fun concert! Emeril Legasse even came to play the bongos. Brandon and I left around 10:30 b/c the sunburn on my calves made it feel like they were going to explode from standing, and there was nowhere to sit down. I felt like I needed a wheelchair. :)
DAY 5: Our last day in paradise. Jen and I decided we needed to buy some Mexican souvenirs from the people who sell crap on the beach, so we went and pretended to watch the waves while the people tried to sell us stuff.

I was looking for a ceramic frog flower planter like this one, but couldn't find one, so I bought an awesome silver ring, and Jen bought sunglasses (Chanel, I think!) and a cowboy hat.
We left the resort in the early afternoon on Wednesday and got to San Diego around dinner time. It was really sad to leave such a fun vacation behind. San Diego was really nice. I managed to find us hotels in Atlanta and San Diego that had free airport shuttles, so we got free hotel rooms and didn't have to rent a car while we were in either city. We went down to Little Italy in San Diego for dinner and drinks at a bar called The Waterfront, which is supposedly the oldest bar in San Diego. It had a Jason Mraz'ish singer singing awesome songs that night. I thought it was great!
DAY 6: We left San Diego in the afternoon on Thursday and headed back to Cincinnati. We were first class on this 4 hour flight, which was awesome for a free ticket! We got lucky. When we landed in Cincinnati, the temperature was in the 40s, and we wished we could turn around and go right back to Mexico.
Birthday Vacation was a total success! I can't wait for next year. It's the big 3-0 for me, so it has to be even bigger and better!
