What an awesome day. So when I landed, Shawna picked me up from the airport and I got to my apartment around 7:00. When I opened the door, a very strong musky smell hit me. It was GROSS. I thought for a second about whether I forgot to take the trash out, or if I bought produce or something else that could go bad, but I couldn't think of anything.
Then, I stepped on the carpet, and my foot sank into it with a splash. My carpet was soaking wet! I looked up and didn't see a leak, so I walked around to my AC, and there was a lot of water coming from the air conditioning unit.
I called my apartment complex and reported it and then took refuge in my bedroom, where the carpet was dry and it didn't smell like mildew. I assume my AC had been leaking since I left on August 25th, b/c that water had been sitting there a while. I can't believe no one below me reported water coming through the roof.
It still smells in my apartment, but at least the maintanence guy left a heavy duty fan in here, after he fixed the problem and cleaned the carpets. I tried to fabreeze to get rid of the odor, but it's still there. I'm thinking the mold and mildew is under the carpet in the padding or on the flooring underneath. What a headache.
I can't wait to be back in a hotel! :(
This week, I'm going to San Antonio on Sunday night/Monday, then the Salt Lake City on Monday night/Tuesday, then home to Austin until Friday, when I leave in the afternoon for a wedding in Ohio next weekend. All of those places sound better than my apartment right now!
I'm excited for the family reunion this afternoon and then Le Garage Sale tomorrow before Shawna's housewarming party. What a busy weekend! Happy hour at Saba last night kicked it off and fun times were had! I've missed that place!
Oh, and I'm back up to my pre-Weight Watchers weight, damnit. The pizza, ice cream, cheesecake, beer, french fries, etc diet finally caught up with me. I'm trying to get my will power back, but it's so hard. HELP!
