What's Goin' On

Ok, my week long update is going to be edited to not lose your interest...

So, the day after Brandon's big 3-0, we left for NYC. We landed around 1:00 PM and took a cab to our hotel, which was on 49th St. and 8th Ave. We shopped and ate around town, just enjoying our mini-vacation and I loved showing Brandon NYC for the first time.

On Wednesday, we had to take the train to Yonkers to pick up Brandon's tux for the wedding. We left an hour later and went back in the city to do some shopping in Chinatown. Brandon loved the secret rooms w/ the fake designer purses! We went into one with a secret passageway and a trap door. One street vendor even handed me an iPhone w/ pics of designer knockoffs. Very upscale for Chinatown. I got 2 purses for me -a Gucci and a Coach- and another Gucci for Shawna's bday present, which is actually my favorite. I'm a great sister. :)

Oh, we got the results of Brandon's MRI on Wednesday, after we were already in NYC. He has a 2 cm mucus polyp in his right cheek. We really don't know what that is, but I know it's not as serious as what it could be, so I'm happy. He was referred to a ENT doctor, who he will go to tomorrow afternoon. I hope it goes ok! If any of you doctor readers know anything about this, please give me your thoughts on how it is treated or removed.

Anyway, we were in bed every night before 11 PM on our trip, and it was awesome. We didn't do any crazy partying or anything, but we did find an awesome pub called Social, which we enjoyed every day. :) We also watched the presidential debate, which really shows you how adult we are. I've asked Brandon to use my vote in Ohio. It matters more there, and I'm not registered to vote there... yet. :) Being in FL and OH was so funny b/c all you hear are the candidates attacking each other. None of that happens in Austin. It's pretty much understood that Texas goes to McCain. I haven't even seen any presidential ads in Texas.

So, on Thursday, we took the train to Tuckahoe for the wedding festivities. The rehearsal dinner was Thursday night, and it was great. Brandon's mom was really nervous about making a little speech, but she did great. The food was wonderful and we had so much fun. My camera battery died after I took 1 picture, so I charged it for the wedding. Wouldn't you know it, in all the preparatory activities prior to the wedding, I went off and left the charged battery in the hotel room... so I don't have any photos to post. :(

On Friday, it was wedding stuff ALL DAY. Brandon left me at 3:00, and I didn't see him again until I saw him walking his mom down the aisle, and then standing beside his brother. I saw him next at the reception. I don't recommend being the date of someone in the wedding party. It was pretty lonely. Especially since his entire family was in the wedding and they took pictures for over an hour after the ceremony. :(

The reception was fun, and again it was lots and lots of food. Brandon's brother married a girl from El Salvador, so it was very Latin influenced from the food to the music. There was salsa dancing and latin music all night. I took a bunch of pictures w/ another guy's camera, and I don't have them back yet, but I'll post them when I do.

So, we went to sleep around midnight after a lot of dancing, drinks and fun. Then Saturday came, and we went to Times Square w/ the whole Meranda clan, and then to Little Italy for a brief lunch w/ my friend from Baylor, Brad Holt, and then he took us to La Guardia to head back to Ohio.

My last night in Ohio was sad. I didn't want to leave! My flight was way too early on Sunday morning, and I got back to Austin around 10:00 AM.

I celebrated Shawna's and Oliver's engagement at my parents' house Sunday night, and now I'm in California for work.

I'm trying to pin point my exact move date to Cincinnati, and I'm leaning towards the Friday after Thanksgiving. I'm soo excited to move up there and to start working from home! I'm hoping to keep my Texas sites, so I'll be able to come back the following weekend for Sirena and Chris' wedding if I plan well. Otherwise I'll be paying for airfare. I don't want to miss the wedding, but I also want to move to Ohio before December. The earlier the better, so I beat the snow. BRRRR! :)

Ok, I think that's enough for today. Here are 2 pictures from my trip!
