Mexican Food and The Gym

I've tried 5 mexican food restaurants in Ohio so far, and they've all been pretty good. Not like the hole in the wall mexican food places I'm used to, but good anyway.

1) Los Portales. This was my first mexican food place to try in Ohio. I liked it a lot! It was very cheap, but still authentic... AND it's only one street away from my house. I'm trying to diet, so all of these restaurants were visited before I joined the gym, so I don't know how often I'll be going here, but I'll definitely come back!

2) Don Pablos. I'm sure this one is a chain, b/c our waiter told us the first one was in Lubbock, I believe. So it was like being right back in Texas. Ok, it wasn't, but the food was delicious! I had the chicken fajitas (not a surprise) and I liked the salsa a lot.

3) Nada. This one is my favorite so far, but it also has downtown Cincy prices, so we probably won't visit as often as I'd like to. I also strongly recommend reservations. Anyway, we had an appetizer of tostadas, which were my favorite. If you come visit us in Ohio, you'll be lucky if I take you here.

4) El Ranchito. I can't remember any details about this place. Either the drinks are strong or it's not too memorable. But it's close to home, so that's a plus.

5) El Coyote. I was hoping Los Angeles' strongest margaritas migrated to the east, but this restaurant just happens to bear the same name, so no relation. It was a very festive restaurant and seemed pretty authentic, besides the "American Food" section of the menu. They have steaks, pastas, and sides of mashed potatoes and fries. When is the last time you saw that at a mexican food restaurant? Anyway, I liked this place a lot, and there's something on the menu for everyone. You might be visiting this place with me too!

I'm still looking for better Mexican food places to try, but I'm very happy with what I've found so far!

Also, like I mentioned in the title, we joined a gym on the last day of 2008.

Our gym is called Urban Active and so far I've been once. We got a great deal on our membership, so it's only 17 dollars a month, and work will reimburse 10 dollars a month, so this is the cheapest way to get in shape...ever. I'm dressed in my workout clothes, but I'm writing this blog instead of making my 2nd trip to the gym. I need to get moving.

Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone! Yay 2009!
